OEM and IPU join forces to strengthen services

August 2014

A leading Aberdeen-based specialist mechanical and electrical services company has signed a partnership with an engine management firm to strengthen its portfolio of services.

OEM Diesel Products, which operates from offices and workshop space in the Kirkhill Industrial Estate in Dyce, has agreed to a co-working agreement with the IPU Group due to the continued growth of the company.

OEM, which is led by managing director Barry Park, was founded in 2012 to provide a single point of contact for companies sourcing engine services or spare parts in the oil and gas, marine services, and energy sector.

IPU, which is based in Oldbury in the West Midlands, designs and manufactures high quality engine starting, engine control, fuel polishing systems and oil conditioning products for critical diesel and gas engine applications.

The partnership will combine OEM’s expertise in the servicing of gensets with IPU’s specialised knowledge of non-electric engine starting, long-term maintenance of stored fuel, and extending the life of engine oil and hydraulic fluids.

The new venture will enable OEM to offer IPU’s fuel maintenance and starting and oil conditioning products to OEM’s diverse range of clients in the oil industry and public sector, and the company will cover sales, installation, servicing and spares supply for IPU’s product range.

Barry Park, managing director of OEM, said: “We are delighted to have signed an agreement with IPU. It is an exciting opportunity for both companies to benefit from each other’s wealth ofexperience and expertise. The goal is to economically improve safety and efficiency on platforms and rigs, and this new joint venture will allow us to build on the excellent relationships we have established over the years, furthering our existing reputation for superior customer service.”

Andy Whitehouse, director of IPU, said: “OEM’s partnership with IPU simplifies the procurement of services that improve the reliability of offshore gensets and emergency equipment. OEM already has an enviable reputation for superior service quality, and is now expanding its portfolio to include the supply and service of IPU’s fuel maintenance, engine starting and oil conditioning products.

“The partnership presents platform operators with an economical and easy way to improve safety standards and system reliability.”
