OEM Group's managing director Barry Park was crowned the Emerging Entrepreneur of the Year 2016 at the prestigious Elevator Awards at a black tie dinner at the Mercure Ardoe House Hotel in Aberdeen last night (Thursday, 30 June 2016).
The Elevator Awards aim to encourage entrepreneurship and business excellence by recognising companies and individuals that are capable of leading the future prosperity of Aberdeen City and Shire.
Park established OEM in 2012 having spotted a gap in the market for diesel engine services, spare part procurement and fuel conditioning for the oil & gas, marine and energy sectors.
By harnessing his determination and focussing on the goal of providing a single point of contact for specialist services to ensure the successful worldwide operation of its customers assets, Park has grown the company into a key international market player with sustained year-on-year growth and operations in Aberdeen, Dubai and Perth, Australia.
Earlier this year, the three business units – OEM Engine Services, OEM Fuel Services and OEM Diesel Pty Ltd –merged to form OEM Group.
The 33-year-old father of three said: “I believe that being an entrepreneur means turning your dreams into reality and that is what I have strived to do since leaving a secure, full time job with a multi-national company to start OEM.
“There is no denying that it takes an incredible amount of time, hard work, resillience and dedication but it’s worth it when you have satisfied clients, loyal staff and a healthy business.
“There is a great spirit of entrepreneurialism in the north-east and I am honoured to be named Emerging Entrepreneur of the Year. I hope it marks the end of the first successful chapter in what will be a long and fruitful journey for OEM Group going forward.”
